Kevin McLatchy received a Studio Diploma from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts School, Boston, where he studied with Barnet Rubenstein, and a M.F.A from the Massachusetts College of Art, where he received further input from George Nick. He also credits a pastel workshop with Wolf Kahn as being very helpful.
As a young child in the 1950's, he saw a Life magazine pictorial of Jackson Pollack doing a drip painting. The flow of energy from Pollack's work made a lasting impression on him. His other influences include French painting of the early and mid-twentieth century, particularly Pierre Bonnard, Albert Marquet and Nicholas de Stael. American painters of influence have included John Twachtman, Edwin Dickinson and Joan Mitchell.
His work has been exhibited at Boston Symphony Hall, the Compton Gallery at M.I.T, the Erie Art Museum, and the Butler Institute of American Art, as well as various academic and private galleries.
He currently lives in Western Pennsylvania and occasionally gives workshops at The Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts
